It’s futsal season in UA&P once again! The Philippine Football Federation (PFF) hosted the FIFA Futsal Coaching Course for this year. The event was held in the Parking and Sports Building (PSB) at the University of Asia and the Pacific (UA&P) in Ortigas Center, Pasig City. It was a 5-day event which held practical and theory sessions for coaches and officials of the sport from September 25th until the 29th. The sessions were conducted by FIFA instructor Mr. Graeme Dell, former head coach of the England National Futsal Team. There were 22 participants from different football and futsal associations.
The event is an initiative of the PFF in memorandum of agreement with UA&P to promote the development of football and futsal here in the Philippines by providing certification courses for officials and coaches. It was the second FIFA Futsal Coaching Course held in UA&P as the university aims to be the main futsal hub of the country. The different participants in the event were selected by different football associations all over the Philippines. The UA&P Men’s Futsal Varsity were present during the sessions to act as a demo team where the participant coaches and officials could apply what they learned in their sessions with Mr. Dell. The Men’s Varsity did numerous drills and scrimmages while being monitored and coached by the course’s participants together with the former England coach. On the other hand, the Men’s Varsity used the opportunity to get ready for their Intercollegiate Futsal Tournament.
The FIFA Futsal Coaching Course is introductory to the futsal season in UA&P as the Men’s Futsal Varsity and UA&P PE Department hosted the third UA&P Intercollegiate Futsal Tournament last September 30. Moreover, last October 1 (Sunday) in the PSB, the Women’s Futsal Team did their best blazed a trail against Centro Escolar University (CEU) despite that it was a draw with a score of 0-0.
